Abdi IPEKÇI 1929-1979
He is a Turkish journalist and author.
He was born on August 9, 1929, in İstanbul. He received his primary school education at Işık Primary School. He graduated from Galatasaray High School. Then, he attended law school for a while. He worked as a sports reporter, page secretary and editor-in-chief in various newspapers such as Yeni Sabah, Yeni İstanbul and İstanbul Ekspres newspapers. He did his military service as a reserve officer translator in Korea. After returning from the military, İpekçi started working for Milliyet newspaper in 1954. From 1961 to February 1, 1979, Abdi İpekçi, who was also the editor-in-chief of the Milliyet newspaper, served as the President of the Turkish Journalists Union, the Turkish Press Institute, the second president of the İstanbul Journalists Association and the International Press Institute, and the general secretary of the Press Honor Court.
