
Our laboratory, which was established to observe the working principles of ophthalmic devices in the content of courses such as Clinical Optics and Rehabilitation and Vision Optics and Refraction in accordance with the curriculum of the Opticianry program, is the second laboratory of the Opticianry department.
It is a laboratory established to observe the measurement stages of patients with ophthalmic devices used by ophthalmologists and to make the engineering of the glasses to be made according to the examination stages more understandable. Our students who want to work with ophthalmologists in hospitals dominate the application processes.
Applications of Ophthalmic Devices Laboratory
Autorefractometry and Biomicroscope devices are already installed in our laboratory and new devices are in the process of installation. The stages of device use are explained practically by ophthalmologists and people with experience in use. Positioning of the patient in the device usage phase, informing the patient about the procedure, cleaning the areas in contact with the device and cleaning the devices after the procedure are shown practically.
Ophthalmic Devices Applications Laboratory Equipment
The devices used in the applications to be carried out in accordance with the curriculum of Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services Opticianry program are in a separate laboratory as they are not available in the opticianry institution.
The biomicroscope is Nikon brand and NS-1V model. Biomicroscope is an instrument with a specially prepared microscope and light source. Many structures of the eye are frequently used in clinical practice.
Autorefractometer is Nikon brand and Speedy-1 model. The autorefractometer is a device that automatically measures the refractive error of the eye.
There is also a hydraulic table in our laboratory for patient comfort.
