YKS, which determines the future of university candidates, is over. Candidates are eagerly awaiting their results, which are expected to be announced on July 20. Experts, who invite candidates to be careful against misinformation, state that candidates should clarify their department and field selection, and recommend the 'Career Test' for this. Experts emphasize the importance of candidates visiting university campuses to get information about the departments they wish to choose, and also remind that the scores and success rankings of departments other than those with a threshold success ranking requirement will not be included in this year's guide.

YKS Results to be Announced on July 20!
Career Counselor Ece Tözeniş noted that after the YKS, which was completed on June 18-19, 2022, candidates are awaiting the announcement of the results, and said, “According to the exam calendar announced by ÖSYM, the 2022-YKS results will be announced on July 20, 2022. Following the announcement of the results, the preference process will begin.”
You Can Benefit from the Career Test
Tözeniş noted that the 2022 YKS preferences will be slightly different from previous years due to the removal of threshold scores, and warned, “But don't forget that complex periods always bring opportunities with them.” Tözeniş made several recommendations until the preference period:
- If you are still undecided about department selection, you can fill out the Career Test at https://uskudar.edu.tr/tr/kariyer-testi to see which departments are most suitable for you.
- The 2022 Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide has not been announced yet. When the guide is released, we will be able to see the official preference and registration dates, newly opened universities, newly opened departments/programs, and the quotas for departments/programs.
- This year, due to the removal of threshold scores, there will be no scores and success rankings for departments/programs other than those with a threshold success ranking such as Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Teaching, Law, Pharmacy, and Architecture.
- In YKS, candidates who achieve a total of 1 net from 120 questions in TYT and 80 questions in AYT will have the right to make preferences.
- During the preference period, be sure to get support from your guidance counselors or preference advisors.
Be Careful Against Misinformation!
- During this period and the preference period, always confirm the accuracy of statements made on social media from the YÖK or ÖSYM website. These are the periods when misinformation is most prevalent.
- You can start researching the departments you are considering. You can find detailed information about the departments on university websites. Or you can reach university officials through various channels such as phone, WhatsApp, and social media accounts to find answers to your questions.
- If you have the opportunity, be sure to visit universities to get information. By attending the Preference and Promotion Days organized by universities, you can meet with department lecturers and students, and see the areas where you will receive education firsthand.
- You are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the results. However, during this period, try to relax from the years of studying for the exam by staying away from exam and preference discussions.
- Regardless of the outcome, your effort and hard work are more valuable than anything else, don't forget that.
