Asst. Prof. Ömer Faruk Karasakal, Director of the Üsküdar University School of Health Services Vocational Education (VSHS), participated in an online talk jointly organized by Üsküdar University and Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Education Centers (MABEM). During the session, Karasakal shared comprehensive information about VSHS’s academic structure, education model, and physical facilities.

VSHS’s academic structure and programs presented
As part of the talk, Asst. Prof. Karasakal delivered an informative presentation introducing the overall structure of VSHS. He provided detailed information on the 38 programs offered within the school, focusing on program content, curriculum design, and the practice-oriented education model. He also touched on the institution’s founding and its development process to date.

Emphasis on the importance of practice-based education in health sciences
Asst. Prof. Karasakal informed participants about VSHS’s physical infrastructure, modern laboratory facilities, and learning environments. Highlighting the critical role of hands-on training in health sciences education, he emphasized that the school offers extensive opportunities aimed at enhancing students’ professional competencies.

Noting that VSHS is located at the Çarşı Campus, Karasakal pointed out that the campus’s central location provides students with significant advantages in terms of transportation and access to city life.

At the end of the event, Karasakal answered questions from participating educators and shared VSHS’s vision of training a qualified workforce for the health sector through an application-based education approach.
