The ‘2023 Spring Semester Evaluation Meeting’ organized by the Visual Communication Design department took place at the Fuat Sezgin Conference Hall on the South Campus. The meeting was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan, Head of Visual Communication Design Department Prof. Dr. And Algül, and faculty academics. External stakeholders, department alumni, and faculty and department student representatives also participated in the meeting.
External stakeholders shared their views in the meeting, where discussions were held about what could be done within the scope of the department and curriculum. Important details they observed in the field and industry were explained. Course and topic concepts were discussed regarding changes to the faculty curriculum.
Orhan Irmak; “Different disciplines are indispensable today…”
Orhan Irmak, founder of Orhan Irmak Tasarım, delivered his speech at the meeting. Irmak stated; “I thank everyone. I also congratulate you on the accreditation. We have been providing packaging design services at Orhan Irmak Tasarım for 20 years. Packaging design is an interdisciplinary field, and in this sense, we have colleagues from different disciplines in our team. Different disciplines are indispensable today. Therefore, my biggest expectation from students is that they gain experience in various fields and graduate as versatile individuals. Thank you for the invitation, I hope our mutual interaction will increase even more from now on.”
Melike Ulupınar; “Gaining different perspectives adds a lot of value to your work.”
Melike Ulupınar, Director of Minus 99 Studio, conveyed to the students the importance of gaining different perspectives. Ulupınar said; “Thank you for your invitation. I also congratulate you for successfully completing the semester and this process, these values are very important. I also come from a multidisciplinary background. Different disciplines are very beneficial in your professional life. Gaining different perspectives in different lines of work adds a lot of value to the work you do. I believe studying in the field of visual arts is a great privilege. At the same time, I think it is very valuable to gain this perspective. I recommend evaluating every course you take with this approach. I believe it is the best method for thinking compactly. Therefore, I recommend experiencing many fields. Such experiences become a step that shapes your future life, and I believe we can make a difference in the sector to some extent.”
The event, which was met with interest by the students, concluded with a group photo session.
