The Independent Living Association (BAYDER) paid a visit to President of Üsküdar University and Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan. During the meeting, ongoing efforts and projects in the field of combating addiction were discussed.

The visit was attended by BAYDER Chairman of the Board Yusuf Ziya Korkmaz, General Coordinator Regaip Bostan, Board Member Harun Altun, BAYDER Youth Chairman Ali İhsan Korkmaz, Youth Board Member Fatih Arıcan, and Sadık Paksoy, Director of the Health, Culture, and Sports Department at Üsküdar University.

New projects on combating addiction were discussed
At the meeting, Prof. Tarhan was briefed on BAYDER and Zincirsiz Magazine’s initiatives in the fight against addiction. Both short- and long-term projects were addressed, and a copy of Zincirsiz Magazine, which also features an article by Prof. Tarhan, was presented to him.

Üsküdar’s work on addiction highlighted
Prof. Tarhan shared information on Üsküdar University’s academic studies and projects on addiction, while BAYDER officials noted that they had established Turkey’s largest rehabilitation network with 13 centers across 8 cities.

Zincirsiz Magazine: a key resource in the fight against addiction
It was emphasized that Zincirsiz Magazine, which serves as an important resource in combating addiction, aims to provide both individuals struggling with addiction and their families with accurate and reliable information.
Prepared as a preventive publication, the magazine draws attention to the social dimensions of addiction. Featuring a contribution by Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, it seeks to raise awareness in this area.
A new student club to be established
At the end of the visit, it was also announced that a student club focusing on addiction will be established within Üsküdar University.
