When quotas reserved for women over 34, earthquake-affected candidates, and relatives of martyrs and veterans are added, the total number of quotas reaches 1 million 111 thousand.
Üsküdar University Preference and Career Counselor, Expert Psychological Counselor Ece Tözeniş, offered beneficial advice to candidates who will make university preferences.
The period until July 20 should be well utilized…
Expert Psychological Counselor Ece Tözeniş, stating that when quotas are evaluated based on 3.5 million applicants, 1 out of 3 students will have the chance to enter university, said, “We have a preference process ahead of us, and it is possible to make this process more efficient by utilizing the remaining time until July 20 well.”
Tözeniş explained, “Making a preference means choosing among alternatives. By making a choice, we eliminate other alternatives and simultaneously make a decision. Making a decision, although it seems simple, is inherently a very complex process. As the options increase, it becomes harder for us to make a decision. What needs to be done here is to evaluate the options we have and create a ranking according to their suitability. This situation helps us create our preference list.”
Suggestions for the Right Preference
Tözeniş stated that the list to be created during the decision-making phase will bring students one step closer to their goals and listed what can be done to have an efficient university preference period as follows:
Start by knowing yourself
- To conclude the preference period with a healthy and correct decision, it is necessary to do some research, reading, and evaluation during this time. You can start by knowing yourself. Spend time alone with yourself, take a look at what excites you the most and where you feel happiest? For example, where, with whom, and what would you like to be doing 4-5 years from now?
- Although jobs and professions change over the years according to needs, there will always be a demand for professionals who do their job well and possess diverse skills.
- You can research the professional fields you are considering. While doing this research, you can use university websites as a resource.
- You might be undecided between a few departments. By taking a career test, you can see the professional fields you can choose based on your personality traits in the test results.
- Exchange ideas about your preferences with your elders, relatives, and friends, but remember, the final decision is yours!
