Researchers from Üsküdar University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences are carrying out important projects. In this context, projects by 4 project teams, including Prof. Dr. Sevim Işık, Asst. Prof. Cihan Taştan, Asst. Prof. Esma Ulusoy from the Molecular Biology and Genetics (Turkish-English) Department, and Asst. Prof. Nigar Çarşıbaşı from the Chemical Engineering Department, have been accepted under the R&D Project Call, TÜSEB - Group B, and TÜBİTAK 1002.

Asst. Prof. Cihan Taştan from Üsküdar University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (English), received acceptance for a project submitted under the TÜSEB Group B R&D Project Call held in March, with the project title 'In Vitro and Ex Vivo Investigation of Next-Generation CRISPR-Prime Editing Targeting Exon7/Intron 7 for SMN2 Gene Regulation and SMN1-Encoding Motor Neuron Cell-Specific Neural Lentivirus Approaches in Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Disease'.
Taştan's team, who undertakes the project's execution, includes; Researcher Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Ceylaner, Researcher Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülay Ceylaner from Intergen Genetic Diseases Diagnosis, Research and Application Center, master's scholarship students Enes Bal, Sibel Pınar Odabaş, Gamze Yelgen, Ayşenur Kurt, Bahar Çandur from TRGENMER, and undergraduate scholarship student Görkem Akgül.
Two projects accepted under TÜBİTAK 1002!
Asst. Prof. Cihan Taştan from Üsküdar University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (Turkish), received a positive response for the project titled 'In Vitro and Ex Vivo Investigation of the Efficacy, Stability, and Off-Target Mutation Capacity of Single-Point Nucleotide Modification Targeting Survival Motor Protein 2 (SMN2) Gene with CRISPR Prime Editing Gene Editing Technology', carried out under TÜBİTAK 1002.
Taştan's team, who undertakes the project's execution, includes; Researcher Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Ceylaner from INTERGEN Genetic Diagnosis Lab, and master's scholarship students Enes Bal, Sibel Pınar Odabaş, Gamze Yelgen.
Asst. Prof. Esma Ulusoy from Üsküdar University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (Turkish), received acceptance for the project titled 'Determination of the Effects of AgNPs on Secondary Metabolite Content in Pimpinella anisum L. Callus Cultures', carried out under TÜBİTAK 1002.
Ulusoy's team, who undertakes the project's management, includes; Prof. Dr. Semiha Erişen as a consultant from Yıldız Technical University, Prof. Dr. Filiz Vardar as a consultant from Marmara University, and Dr. Hüseyin Servi as a researcher from Yeniyüzyıl University.

A project titled 'Evaluation of the Neuroprotective Effect of Gold and Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles Synthesized by Green Chemistry Under In Vivo and In Vitro Conditions', carried out under TÜSEB - Group B, in which Prof. Dr. Sevim Işık from Üsküdar University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, and Asst. Prof. Nigar Çarşıbaşı from the Chemical Engineering Department participated as researchers, and led by Prof. Dr. Özlem Yayıntaş from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, received acceptance.
