The fifth R&D-Focused Extended Senate Meeting was held by Üsküdar Üniversitesi Directorate of R&D and Innovation Policies. Project presentations were made at the meeting, which was attended by senate members and academics. Highlighting the importance of Times Higher Education (THE) labels, Üsküdar Üniversitesi's achievement of entering the top 25% globally in the 2025 Impact Rankings was shared. 

The meeting, held at the Ibn-i Sina Auditorium of Üsküdar Üniversitesi NP Health Campus, was attended by senate members and academics, primarily Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, and Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör.

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan: “People self-evaluate by looking at these labels”

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, emphasized the importance of Times Higher Education (THE) labels. Tarhan said; “THE labels are very important. People self-evaluate by looking at these labels. Applying for all 17 of these labels is the ultimate goal, but not everyone can do it. There is a great deal of effort involved. The whole team worked magnificently. I congratulate everyone who contributed.”

Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel: “Üsküdar is in the top 25% among 2,389 universities…” 

The opening speeches of the meeting were delivered by Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel. Ergüzel, who started his speech with an R&D information presentation, explained that Üsküdar Üniversitesi achieved significant success in the 2025 Impact Rankings of the prestigious ranking organization Times Higher Education (THE). Additionally, Ergüzel stated that Üsküdar entered the most distinguished 25% segment (Q1) among 2,389 universities globally. 

Project presentations were held within the scope of the meeting

Prof. Dr. Emel Serdaroğlu Kaşıkçı, faculty member of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (Turkish) at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, presented her project titled “Investigation of the potential neuroprotective effect of homeopathic gelsemium sempervirens in an experimental Parkinson's disease model: a new approach to treatment (GETAT)”. 

Prof. Dr. Hıdır İlyas Göz, Head of the Department of Psychology Ph.D. Program at the Institute of Social Sciences, delivered his presentation titled “Testing fuzzy trace theory with electroencephalogram (EEG): are the neural correlates of physical and semantic coding different from the effect of word frequency on memory illusion? (1002-A)”. 

Lecturer Meryem Koçaslan Toran from the Department of Midwifery at the Faculty of Health Sciences, delivered her presentation titled “Development of a mobile health application for multiple sclerosis patients with neuropathic pain and the effect of the application on pain intensity and quality of life (1002-A)”. 

Subsequently, an ARGEYEP Information presentation was made. Associate Professor Dr. Müge Ensari Özay, Director of R&D and Innovation Policies, discussed ongoing projects in her presentation. 

Sapling certificates were presented 

After the project presentations, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan presented sapling certificates to the project owners.
