Üsküdar University Shared Its Expertise in Forensic Toxicology with Mauritania

Üsküdar University continues its efforts to develop its academic knowledge and international collaborations in the field of forensic sciences. In this context, Research Assistant Dr. Umut Kendüz from Üsküdar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Forensic Sciences, conducted a comprehensive 'Forensic Toxicology Training' for the personnel of the Police Criminal Laboratory Toxicology Department located in Mauritania's capital, Nouakchott.

Üsküdar University, with its interdisciplinary approach in forensic science studies, contributes to training qualified human resources both in the academic field and in practical application, and continues to transfer its knowledge and experience to different countries through international training activities.

In this context, Research Assistant Dr. Umut Kendüz from Üsküdar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Forensic Sciences, gave 'Forensic Toxicology Training' in Mauritania. 

Expertise in the field of forensic sciences was shared on an international platform

During the one-week training program, many topics were covered, from the basic principles of forensic toxicology to the collection and preservation of biological samples, and from toxicological analysis processes to sample preparation techniques. In addition, current applications related to chromatographic analysis methods and the scientific evaluation of the obtained results were shared with the participants.

Üsküdar University's practical training approach was conveyed

During the training process, not only theoretical knowledge but also case studies and real case analyses that may be encountered in forensic cases were covered. Thus, it was aimed to improve the participants' practical skills regarding laboratory processes and strengthen the scientific approach in forensic investigations.

Contributed to international knowledge sharing

Within the scope of the program, the protection of the chain of custody between the crime scene and the laboratory, quality assurance practices, and current approaches to forensic toxicological reporting were also evaluated. The training contributed to the development of the Mauritania Police Criminal Laboratory's toxicological examination capacity, while also paving the way for strengthening knowledge sharing in the field of forensic sciences between the two countries.
