Üsküdar University Students Also Earn a Silver Medal

Students from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Üsküdar Üniversitesi's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences represented Üsküdar University at RadiChal 2021, where 39 different teams competed to carry out genetic treatment and social awareness projects targeting three different diseases. The 7therapy team earned a silver medal for their work on a genetic treatment method for Epidermolysis Bullosa disease.

Üsküdar University students have added another achievement to their successes.

Students representing Üsküdar University with their 7therapy team, formed at RadiChal 2021 with the participation of 39 teams, earned a silver medal by developing a genetic treatment method for Epidermolysis Bullosa disease.

The members of the 7therapy team are as follows:

Talha Yaşar -  Üsküdar Üniversitesi Molecular Biology and Genetics - Bioengineering (English)

İrem Çelik - Üsküdar Üniversitesi Molecular Biology and Genetics - Bioengineering (English)

İrem Köhserli -   Üsküdar Üniversitesi Molecular Biology and Genetics - Bioengineering (English)

What is RaDiChal?

It is the Rare Diseases Genetic Treatment competition organized to raise awareness for rare diseases and individuals suffering from them, whose numbers are relatively small in society and who need their voices to be heard, and to develop treatment strategies for these diseases, with the participation of university students at an international level.

7therapy is a group formed by four friends who came together with a solution-oriented approach, planning awareness and treatment strategies for Epidermolysis Bullosa, commonly known as butterfly disease, with the hashtag #butterflyeffect.

Epidermolysis Bullosa, or butterfly disease, is a condition for which there is a significant lack of data in our country, both regarding its subtypes and statistically. Many individuals with butterfly disease today are not even aware of their condition.

Students from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Üsküdar Üniversitesi's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences are continuing their efforts with full dedication to close this gap, ensure data flow, and create a positive impact.
