Üsküdar University Students' “META-TIP” Project Receives Gold Certificate Award

The “1 Idea 1 World” competition was held hosted by the Turkish Association of Inventors and Inventor Candidates (TÜMMİAD). In the competition, Üsküdar University students' innovative initiative, the “META-TIP” project, was awarded a Gold Certificate. The project aims to simulate theoretical education and surgical practical training in the field of medicine as realistically as possible using virtual reality (VR) technologies. Within the scope of the competition, projects from inventors and entrepreneurs from around the world and Turkey have the opportunity to be exhibited on an international platform.

The “META-TIP” project team includes Üsküdar University Project Executive and Founding Partner, Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine 5th-year student Mustafa Şanverdi; Software Developer and Founding Partner, Computer Engineering 2nd-year student Emre Kaan Şanverdi; Production Planning Officer, Industrial Engineering 2nd-year student Sena Özbülbül; International Relations Officer, Faculty of Medicine 4th-year student Asma İbrahim; International Relations Officer, Faculty of Medicine 4th-year student Lina Hammami; and an Istanbul Technical University Electronic and Communication Engineering 2nd-year student.

Project Received Gold Certificate Award…

In the 1 Idea 1 World competition, Üsküdar University students' innovative initiative, the “META-TIP” project, was awarded a Gold Certificate. The META-TIP project was initiated in 2022 by Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine 5th-year student Mustafa Şanverdi and Computer Engineering 2nd-year student Emre Kaan Şanverdi. The project aims to simulate theoretical education and surgical practical training in the field of medicine as realistically as possible using virtual reality (VR) technologies.

The project belongs to scientists in Turkey and aims to create a global virtual environment and form the core of the medical science community. META-TIP not only plans to create virtual classrooms but also to establish a significant anatomy database and offer digital products to the scientific community. The project will provide 3D printer-printed organs and organ systems along with tangible applications for digital and real environments. With these features, “META-TIP” stands as the first original initiative to support medical education with digital and real anatomy products.

A Project for Both Researchers and Students

The META-TIP project aims to offer an innovative solution to problems such as cadaver scarcity, enabling students to experience one-on-one anatomy lessons with digitized organs and organ systems. By 3D scanning and digitizing real organs using VR technology, the goal is to create a better educational environment for health science students and researchers.

Among Its Goals is International Expansion

With the META-TIP project, it is also aimed to establish a TÜBİTAK-supported startup company and initiate work in private medical faculties and hospitals in Istanbul.

Letters of intent have been received from some healthcare institutions within the scope of the project. The products will become operational in hospitals after the completion of equipment and production processes. Furthermore, it is aimed to become operational in universities where anatomy and cadaver lessons are offered across all health sciences faculties, and to achieve international growth.

Work is Still Ongoing…

After becoming a finalist in the Teknofest Educational Technologies category in 2023, the “META-TIP” project was accepted into Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) Çekirdek Incubation Center. İTÜ Çekirdek was selected as Europe's 2nd best and the world's 3rd best incubation center.
The project advanced to the 2nd stage of the TÜBİTAK 1812 BİGG program and is still continuing its R&D efforts at Üsküdar University Brainpark Incubation Center.
