Üsküdar University was among the universities that signed the Justice and Human Rights Declaration for Palestine, prepared to stand against the inhumane practices directed at Palestine. In the statement made by the university; “As a higher education institution that has always opposed the inhumane practices against Palestine, we respectfully announce to the public that we are honored and proud to sign the said declaration.”

The statement made by the university regarding the news published in the press on the subject is as follows:
“As Üsküdar University, we have strongly condemned the attacks carried out by Israel against the Palestinian people in Jerusalem, with messages we published on our social and digital platforms. Furthermore, many of our academics, including our Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, have clearly expressed our support for the Palestinian people through their personal social media accounts and statements given to media organizations.
Despite this, a need arose to make a statement regarding news in some media outlets suggesting that we had not signed the “Justice and Human Rights for Palestine” declaration, which was reportedly prepared by a university. Unfortunately, it was not possible to respond positively to the said declaration because no official information reached our university through official channels. Our Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka, immediately after receiving detailed information about the declaration, informed the relevant channels that the university had signed the text. Moreover, the necessary corrections have been made in the news article regarding the issue, and the error that could lead to misunderstandings has been rectified.
As a higher education institution that has always opposed the inhumane practices against Palestine, we respectfully announce to the public that we are honored and proud to sign the said declaration.”
