Üsküdar University achieved a great success in the prestigious Times Higher Education's (THE) 2025 Impact Rankings, entering the most distinguished 25 percent (Q1) among 2,389 universities worldwide. Üsküdar University, which qualified for all 17 tags it applied for and shared first place in Turkey, became the only foundation university to achieve this success consecutively for the last two years. It rose 200 ranks to enter the league of elites.
Üsküdar University achieved a historic success in the 2025 Impact Rankings by Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world's most prestigious higher education ranking organizations, which measures universities' contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Rising 200 Ranks to Enter the League of Elites
Despite a 350 increase in the number of applicant universities compared to the previous year, Üsküdar University successfully rose by a full 200 ranks in the overall ranking to be placed in the top 25 percent (Q1), which includes the world's most qualified and impactful universities. Üsküdar University also succeeded in obtaining all 17 different tags, ranking 524th in the overall ranking of these tags.
For the 5 tags Üsküdar University applied for in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings in 2023, it was listed in the top 50 percent in world rankings, and in the top 40 percent in 2024. The university brought its rise to a peak in 2025.
This achievement stood out as a result of the university's consistently high-quality education, research, and social impact efforts over the past three years.
In the Top 500 for 9 out of 17 Tags
Üsküdar University applied for all 17 of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and qualified for all tags. It managed to enter the top 500 universities worldwide for 9 of these 17 tags. Particularly in the categories of “Good Health and Well-being” and “Gender Equality,” it ranked in the 201-300 band globally, once again proving its strength in thematic areas.
Furthermore, by ranking in the 301-400 band in categories such as “Reduced Inequalities” and “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions,” the university's four fundamental values – pluralism, participation, libertarianism, and criticizability – were internationally recognized as being lived and upheld by the institution.
At the Top in Turkey
Üsküdar University, which shared first place in Turkey in the overall ranking among foundation universities that successfully obtained all 17 tags it applied for, also stood out as the only foundation university to achieve this success consecutively for the last two years.
It solidified its pioneering role in many areas, ranking 1st among foundation universities in Turkey for the “Life Below Water” tag, 2nd for “Good Health and Well-being,” and 3rd for “No Poverty,” “Zero Hunger,” “Reduced Inequalities,” and “Life on Land” tags.

The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings evaluates universities' activities under the headings of research, education, stewardship, and outreach, in line with the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Üsküdar University's achievement in the Q1 quadrant in this comprehensive evaluation is considered a reflection of the university's globally sensitive, innovative, and holistic educational approach. According to the Overall Score results obtained from the weighted scores of the top 3 tags where universities achieved the highest points (26%) combined with the 17th tag (22%) which is mandatory for application, Üsküdar University also demonstrated the success of being in the top quarter (Q1) in the world rankings for this metric.
