Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world’s most prestigious higher education ranking organizations, has announced the results of the 2025 Impact Rankings, which measure universities’ global impact and contributions to sustainability.

Üsküdar University achieved a significant global success by ranking in the top 25% (Q1) among 2,526 universities worldwide, while also securing a place in the top 500 globally in 9 out of 17 categories it applied for.

Among foundation universities in Türkiye that applied for all 17 categories, Üsküdar University ranked 1st in the country.

Üsküdar University achieved a historic success in the 2025 THE Impact Rankings, which evaluate universities’ societal, environmental, and economic contributions toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The university once again confirmed its international standing by being listed in the first quartile among thousands of distinguished universities worldwide.

Üsküdar University applied to all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and successfully earned all 17 categories, ranking among the top 500 universities globally in 9 of them.

For Two Consecutive Years…

Üsküdar University shared 1st place in Türkiye among foundation universities that successfully earned all 17 categories, standing out as the only foundation university to achieve this success for two years in a row.

Climbed 200 Ranks to Enter the Elite League

Despite a 350-university increase in the number of applicants compared to the previous year, Üsküdar University climbed 200 places in the overall ranking and achieved the success of being listed in the top 25% (Q1) of the world’s most qualified and influential universities. The university also ranked 524th overall across all 17 categories.

In 2023, Üsküdar University had ranked within the top 50% globally for 5 categories it applied for in the THE Impact Rankings, and in 2024 it advanced into the top 40%. The university has now reached its peak performance in 2025.

This success highlights the results of Üsküdar University’s consistent efforts over the last three years in quality education, research, and societal impact initiatives.

Top 500 Worldwide in 9 of 17 Categories…

Üsküdar University earned all 17 SDG categories and ranked among the top 500 universities worldwide in 9 of them.
Particularly, it placed in the 201–300 range globally under the categories of “Good Health and Well-being” and “Gender Equality,” reaffirming its strength in these thematic areas.

It also ranked in the 301–400 range in the categories of “Reduced Inequalities” and “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions,” confirming at an international level that the university upholds its four core values: pluralism, participation, freedom, and critical thinking.

Leading in Türkiye

Üsküdar University shared 1st place in Türkiye among foundation universities that successfully achieved all 17 categories, standing out as the only foundation university to maintain this success for two consecutive years.

It ranked 1st among foundation universities in Türkiye in the “Life Below Water” category, 2nd in the “Good Health and Well-being” category, and 3rd in the “No Poverty,” “Zero Hunger,” “Reduced Inequalities,” and “Life on Land” categories, thereby strengthening its pioneering role in many areas.

Ranking Methodology

The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings evaluate universities’ activities in terms of research, education, governance, and societal impact in line with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Üsküdar University’s achievement of ranking in the Q1 tier in this comprehensive assessment is regarded as a reflection of the university’s innovative and holistic educational approach, which is sensitive to global issues.

Based on the Overall Score results, which are calculated by weighting 26% of the score from the top three categories where universities achieve the highest results, along with 22% from the 17th category (which is a mandatory category for all applicants), Üsküdar University has also succeeded in ranking within the top quartile (Q1) globally in this metric.
