Üsküdar University hosted the Science Olympiads Summer Camp

Üsküdar University hosted the Science Olympiads Summer Camp students in the classrooms of Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus. Students who continued their summer term classes at Üsküdar University within the scope of the Science Olympiads enjoyed the beautiful weather in the Çarşı Campus garden. Speaking about the project, Teacher Murat Yoğurtçu made statements about the journey of the students who qualified to participate in the Olympiads throughout the process.

''The project is followed as a national project by the ministry''

Murat Yoğurtçu from the Science Olympiads, emphasizing the project's aim to create a difference in basic sciences, underlined that their other goal is to discover gifted children. Yoğurtçu stated; “We are carrying out a project titled 'From Basic Ideas to Basic Ideas'. We started it in 2015 with my esteemed colleague Süleyman Akarsu. Although this project is centered around Science Olympiads, it actually aims to create a difference in basic sciences. Within the scope of the project, we conduct Science Olympiads training, select students through exams, and then provide training in mathematics, computer science, and physics to our district and central groups on weekends. Our aim is to discover gifted children and meet their academic needs that are not met at school before they proceed to university life. The project is followed as a national project by the ministry. In the coming years, we aim to open it up to the whole of Turkey with online education. Our goals also include taking the Istanbul Science Olympiads to a national level and then to an international platform.'' he said.

''We also admit the sibling of a medal-winning student without an exam''

Murat Yoğurtçu, speaking about the conditions for participating in the Science Olympiads, said; “We have 4 criteria when selecting students. Firstly, we use the Istanbul Science Olympiads and select students through the competition we organize. Secondly, even if they haven't entered the Istanbul Science Olympiads competition from TÜBİTAK's competition, we accept students who have passed TÜBİTAK's 1st stage. As another criterion, we use the reference of teachers working in the field of Olympiads. Finally, we consider genetic reference. What does genetic reference mean? If a student who has won a medal has a sibling, we admit that sibling without an exam.'' he stated.
