Üsküdar University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences hosted an important event within the scope of quality assurance studies in higher education. The training program, conducted in cooperation with STAR Accreditation Association, provided comprehensive information on accreditation processes and quality standards implemented in universities.

The event, held in the Socrates Hall of Üsküdar University's South Campus E Block, was attended by Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, Üsküdar University faculty member and Deputy Director of the Strategic Research Application and Research Center, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Arslan, and members of the STAR Accreditation Association. 

Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör: “We attach great importance to quality and accreditation processes”

Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, who gave the opening speech of the event, emphasized the importance the university places on the accreditation process. Güngör said: “As Üsküdar University, we attach great importance to quality and accreditation processes. In 2018, we were included in an external observation process with the YÖKAK assessment for the first time. That year was a turning point for us. To date, almost all departments of our Faculty of Communication and important departments of our Faculty of Engineering have been accredited. Our Psychology department has completed this process. Our Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is also moving forward on this path. We are working with STAR for the first time this year, and we are delighted to host you here.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Arslan: “I hope your training process will be productive”

Speaking at the event, Üsküdar University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Arslan drew attention to STAR's expertise in assessment processes. Arslan said: “All universities in Turkey are focused on the accreditation process. In our field, STAR is one of the most competent institutions. I am also part of STAR's pool of evaluators. I hope that the infrastructure we provide today will contribute to making your training process more productive.” 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Turgay Geçer: “We are continuing the established quality culture in Turkey”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Turgay Geçer, a manager at STAR Accreditation Association and a faculty member at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business (English), provided information about the association's structure and areas of activity. Geçer pointed out that STAR is an authorized accreditation institution in Turkey in the field of social sciences; “STAR is an accreditation body affiliated with YÖKAK. Initially, we started with a two-year authorization, then received a five-year authorization. We operate in a total of 21 fields such as social sciences, business, economics, and international relations. We are authorized for 75 different programs under the program accreditation granted by YÖKAK. Due to our association structure, we have a general assembly, members, and various committees. With these structures, we are continuing the established quality culture in Turkey.” 

The training program, hosted by Üsküdar University, provided participants with important information for sharing knowledge, transferring experience, and disseminating quality awareness to contribute to accreditation processes.
