Üsküdar University Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan and the accompanying delegation visited Atabay Synthesis R&D, Biotechnology R&D, and drug production facilities of Atabay Pharmaceuticals and Chemistry Industry located in Gebze Dilovası. Tarhan and his delegation also exchanged views on University-Industry collaboration and potential bilateral agreements.

Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Üsküdar University Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel and SHMYO Dr. Lecturer Salih Tuncay conducted tours and inspections at Atabay Pharmaceuticals and Chemistry Industry.

Tarhan and his accompanying delegation were escorted by factory manager Şahin Gürsel and production manager Adil Kaya during the visit.
Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, Gürsel conveyed the work carried out at Atabay Pharmaceuticals and Chemistry Industry since its establishment in 1939 on pharmaceutical API (active pharmaceutical ingredient), human, agricultural, and veterinary drug production, as well as biotechnological drug production.
Within the framework of a planned MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for the subsequent period, priority was given to topics such as production under GMP standards, applications to Technology and Innovation Support Programs (TEYDEB), Scientist Support Programs (BİDEB) calls, and student internship and employment opportunities.

Visiting the factory production facilities, Prof. Tarhan toured the paracetamol production area, which is Turkey's sole domestic production, and received information about the production process.
The aim is to foster collaboration and potential project work between Üsküdar University's Bioengineering, Molecular Biology and Genetics, and Chemical Engineering departments and the Üsküdar University R&D and Innovation Policies Directorate (ARGEYEP) with Atabay Pharmaceuticals and Chemistry Industry. This collaboration will focus on OTC (over-the-counter) drug production, with contributions from in vivo and in vitro studies to be carried out at the Phase 1 center planned for establishment at our university.
