Teachers and students from Sultanbeyli Girls' Anatolian Imam Hatip High School visited the Herbarium Techniques Laboratory of Üsküdar University's Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) within the scope of the TÜBİTAK project titled “Tracing Medicinal Plants in Nature”. During the visit, students received academic support on herbarium studies and plant identification. Within this scope, students were given practical training on the scientific identification and classification of medicinal plants.

Scientific guidance for high school students in Üsküdar University's herbarium…

Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus Herbarium Techniques Laboratory hosted an event bringing high school students together with scientific studies.
Within the scope of the TÜBİTAK project carried out under the guidance of Vildan Akşit, a teacher from Sultanbeyli Girls' Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, teachers and students visited the Üsküdar University Herbarium Techniques Laboratory.
Within the scope of the project titled “Tracing Medicinal Plants in Nature”, students aimed to create a herbarium with plants they collected from nature. During the project, academic support was requested from Üsküdar University to accurately identify the plants and access reliable information regarding their scientific characteristics.

Practical herbarium training was given to students
During the event, students were informed about herbarium studies, plant classification, and the scientific identification of medicinal plants under the guidance of Prof. Memduh Serin, a faculty member of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Program at the Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS), and Asst. Prof. Tuğba Kaman, Head of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Program.
At the same time, within the scope of the event, the species identification of plants collected by students from nature was carried out.
With practical studies conducted using plant samples, students had the opportunity to closely experience scientific examination processes.

Contributed to university-high school collaboration
The event stood out as an important social responsibility initiative that strengthened university-high school collaboration. It provided a productive learning environment for students to be involved in scientific research processes at an early age, gain awareness of nature, develop academic awareness, and become acquainted with research culture.
