Prof. Nevzat Tarhan: “Training colleagues is one of the greatest responsibilities”

Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, President of Üsküdar University, touched upon the feedback processes carried out with students, emphasizing that evaluation meetings are held after each internship. Tarhan stated; “I see the positive impact you have on students. It is very important to be able to touch their lives, their professional lives. We are faced with people, with patients. We do what is necessary for treatment, but training colleagues is also very important. The master-apprentice relationship, that is, the transfer of experience to your colleagues, is very important. I truly thank you for your sacrifice in this regard.’’

Prof. Nazife Güngör: “We are happy to be together”

Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör congratulated all participants on Ramadan, drawing attention to the spirit of unity and togetherness during the holy month. She expressed her pleasure at being together with the academicians and guests at the health campus. Güngör said; “It is not only about teaching but also about being a role model and setting an example while teaching, because science is like that. Learning and teaching are also like that... When transferring knowledge, mental interaction alone is not enough; there must also be an emotional flow. It's good that we are here, it's good that we are all together. We are happy to be together.”

Prof. Hikmet Koçak: “Medicine requires sacrifice and continuous renewal”

Üsküdar University Vice Rector Prof. Hikmet Koçak pointed out that medical education is a challenging process requiring dedication. Koçak stated; “Medical education is truly difficult. It is a profession that serves people. There is no night or day, no Saturday or Sunday. A doctor must always be ready to practice what they know and learn what they do not. It is a profession that constantly requires self-renewal. Medicine requires sacrifice and continuous renewal. Patient services, meaning the part that attends to patients, must definitely be carried out in the hospital. We are grateful for your help in this regard, as tomorrow these students may look after us or intervene for our loved ones. Therefore, our goal, concern, and effort are directed towards their proper upbringing.”

Koçak also thanked the Ministry of Health representatives and the managers of public and private hospitals who contributed to the qualified education of the students.

Prof. Haydar Sur: “We achieved 25 rercent TUS success with our first graduates”

Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Haydar Sur drew attention to the faculty's academic success. Sur stated; “We graduated a total of 110 students. 30 did not take the TUS exam. Of the remaining 80 students, 22 passed the TUS exam. We achieved a 25 percent pass rate. This is a very good rate for first graduates. Furthermore, one of our students ranked 425th in Turkey. I believe that having a student among our first graduates who entered the top thousand is also an indicator of quality.”

“We are all parts of the same health system”

Sur, stating that it is pleasing for the health system to work in a mutually supportive way, said; “The World Health Organization defines the health system as 'all people, organizations, and activities whose primary purpose is to improve the health of the community.' Therefore, we are all actually parts of the same health system. We can be on the government side, on the private side, on the education side, or on the clinical service side. The integration of these parts with an institution like Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine and their working in a mutually supportive manner made us very happy.”
