Üsküdar University Conducts Democratic Leadership Survey

Üsküdar University is conducting a Democratic Leadership Survey nationwide in Turkey. The survey, carried out via social media, aims to determine participants' perspectives on the definitions of “democratic leader and autocratic leader” and their views on these concepts.

Through the Democratic Leadership Survey organized by Üsküdar University via social media, it is aimed to determine the definitions of democratic and autocratic leader characteristics and individuals' observations on these definitions.

As with similar studies conducted worldwide, this survey aims to serve science, then guide game developers who will use these studies as a roadmap, and consequently, benefit society.

In the survey, where 25 instructions/questions were directed to participants, they were asked to indicate their level of agreement with the statements regarding the leader, in terms of suitability for democratic leadership, with options such as “Strongly Disagree,” “Slightly Agree,” “Moderately Agree,” “Strongly Agree,” and “Completely Agree.”

The survey included instructions such as: “A democratic leader is focused on justice and respect for rules, changing impeding rules with ethical sensitivity. An autocratic leader is prone to arbitrariness, power-focused, and easily violates rules”; “A democratic leader loves to consult, in football, he lets others score goals. An autocratic leader is bossy, loves to give orders, and says 'let me have the ball, I'll score the goal'”; “A democratic leader takes calculable risks when necessary. An autocratic leader takes excessive risks”; “A democratic leader makes principle-oriented decisions, not outcome- and goal-oriented, in the use of resources like money. An autocratic leader's only principle is success; they do not care about fair resource utilization”; “A democratic leader keeps those who speak the truth by their side, even if they don't like it, and is focused on corporate benefit. An autocratic leader progresses with flatterers and approvers, making decisions focused on individual benefit.”; “A democratic leader cares about distributing power and authority not to themselves, but to their colleagues and the team. An autocratic leader highly values keeping control to themselves.”
