Asst. Prof. Dr. Ezgi Şen: “Our students created works that draw attention to the themes of ‘Zero Hunger’ and ‘Quality Education’”

Asst. Prof. Dr. Ezgi Şen from the Department of Cartoon and Animation provided information about the works of her advisee students, Rümeysa Sever and Hilal Akşan. Şen stated, “The works of our 2nd-year Visual Communication Design students, Rümeysa Sever and Hilal Akşan, who participated in the international design competition organized by the Faculty of Art of Tarnów Academy, Poland (Wydział Sztuki Akademii Tarnowskiej), were selected by the jury and qualified for exhibition. Hilal Akşan created works raising awareness on ‘Zero Hunger’ within the scope of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, while Rümeysa Sever focused on ‘Quality Education’.”

Rümeysa Sever: “With my work, I aimed to be the voice of girl children”

Sever, who participated in the international design competition organized by the Faculty of Art of Tarnów Academy with her work drawing attention to the rights of girl children, stated that she wanted to be their voice in making their rights heard. Sever said, “I was proud of myself and my school that my work on the right to education for girl children was among the selected works in the international poster competition we participated in. I would also like to thank my advisor, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ezgi Şen, for her support during this process. The reason I focused on this topic in my work was to be the voice of girl children who are deprived of many important rights, especially the right to education, due to their gender. Although there is currently an increase in education rates, who knows how many girl children are still not being educated. Just as I stated in my work; ‘Education is Everyone’s Right.’ ”

Hilal Akşan: “The problem of hunger has become a serious issue”

Akşan, who drew attention to the issue of ‘hunger’, one of the growing problems in the world, in her work, said, “In my poster work, I wanted to draw attention to the issue of ‘Hunger’, which is of great importance within the scope of the Sustainable Development Goals that the United Nations is working on. The problem of hunger, resulting from the combination of factors such as global poverty, insufficient agricultural production, climate crisis, war, and waste, is becoming an increasingly serious issue. I hope this situation, which affects many people physically and mentally, will one day end, and people will attain their right to nutrition, which is one of their most basic rights. I would like to thank our advisor, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ezgi Şen, very much for enabling us to be part of this project and for her invaluable help throughout the process.”
