What is UNIMED?
UNIMED is an association established in 1991 that brings together universities in the Mediterranean region. Its main objective is to enhance scientific, cultural, social, and economic cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean area. It encourages member universities to participate in international projects, provides funding and planning support, and promotes the mobility of students and academic staff within the region. Additionally, it creates thematic sub-networks to strengthen scientific collaborations and organizes national/international meetings and seminars. UNIMED is a permanent partner of the European Commission and the Union for the Mediterranean, and as of November 2024, it holds observer status within the framework of the Western Mediterranean Forum (5+5 Dialogue).
