Lecturer Eyser Kılıç, Head of Biomedical Device Technology Program at Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO), and Lecturer Mehmet Kavacık participated in the “Biomedical Workshop” held within the scope of the ‘2nd National Biomedical Congress’ organized by the Biomedical Technicians Association (BİYOTED). Lecturer Mehmet Kavacık drew attention to the importance of closely following technological developments in the biomedical field and strengthening practical training processes. Kavacık emphasized that Üsküdar University aims to provide the field with well-equipped graduates through laboratory facilities provided to students, collaborations established with the sector, and organized events.

At the workshop held at Marmaris Grand Yazıcı hotel, academics, sector representatives, and student representatives came together to address current developments and needs in the fields of biomedical engineering and biomedical technicianry.

Lecturer Mehmet Kavacık: “We are preparing our students fully equipped for the field”

Lecturer Mehmet Kavacık from Üsküdar University Biomedical Device Technology Program, who made evaluations at the workshop, drew attention to the importance of practical education. Kavacık stated; “We closely follow current developments in the biomedical field and prepare our students for the industry by organizing seminars, workshops, and various events in continuous cooperation with the sector. Our students receiving hands-on, practical training by interacting with devices ensures they are a step ahead when they graduate and can rapidly adapt to the sector. The strongest indicator of this is our graduate students reaching important positions in the biomedical field and undertaking successful projects. This situation serves as a great source of motivation for both us educators and our students who continue their studies.”

Different topics stood out at the workshop

At the workshop; strengthening communication and cooperation between academia and the sector, developing internship opportunities provided through Kariyer Kapısı, increasing the diversity of devices to support practical education in university laboratories, and strengthening the English proficiency of biomedical students were emphasized.

Participants expressed a common view that both the education curriculum and sectoral collaborations need to be restructured according to current needs.
