Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Deputy Dean Assistant Professor Dr. Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan and Faculty of Health Sciences Midwifery Department Deputy Head Assistant Professor Dr. Ayça Demir Yıldırım and Assistant Professor Dr. Günay Arslan received patent and utility model registration for their innovative works contributing to the health field. While the projects they developed aim to meet a significant need in both clinical practice and education, they offered solutions that will enhance quality in the health sector. The inventions registered as patents and utility models also aim to make a difference in many areas, from newborn screenings to pregnancy follow-up. 

The device eliminates the need for retesting!

The “Heel Blood Collection Device” developed by Faculty of Health Sciences Deputy Dean Assistant Professor Dr. Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan and Faculty of Health Sciences Midwifery Department Deputy Head Assistant Professor Dr. Ayça Demir Yıldırım received patent registration. 

The device, designed for use in heel blood collection procedures for health screening of newborn babies, also eliminates the need for insufficient samples or retesting by ensuring an equal amount of blood sample is taken each time, thanks to its innovative design.

The aim is to detect potential health problems in fetal development early

Assistant Professor Dr. Ayça Demir Yıldırım’s other work, the “Pregnancy Calculation Educational Material with Fundal Height,” was registered as a utility model. 

This invention was designed to evaluate fetal development in the womb and to detect potential health problems early. 
The material, which features a special chart showing fundal height according to gestational week and a movable week chart for demonstration, aims to enable more conscious monitoring of the pregnancy process.
