Üsküdar University Academics Gave a Conference to Guest Students from Turkic Republics

The annual conference titled 'From Turkey to Seven Continents' was held as part of the International Summer Education Activities, in cooperation with Üsküdar University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Psychology Lecturer Prof. Dr. Sırrı Akbaba, Head of the Sociology Department Prof. Dr. Ebulfez Süleymanlı, and the Silk Road Foundation. Students from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, predominantly theology faculty students, participated in the event.

Guest Students Rated Their Countries

At the event held in the conference hall of Şehit Adil Büyükcengiz Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, Üsküdar University Department of Psychology Lecturer Prof. Dr. Sırrı Akbaba gave students a speech titled 'Psychosocial Aspects of Turkic Communities'. Akbaba asked the guest students to rate the cultural, educational, economic, political, and geographical characteristics of their own countries between 1 and 10, drawing attention to the topic by explaining examples of Imperialist Attempts at De-identification. Finally, in his speech, Prof. Dr. Sırrı Akbaba emphasized the virtues and merits we should acquire, drawing from the views of Farabi and Ibn Sina in the context of the 'aksakal council' (advisory assembly), which is a common value of Turkic societies.

“In Our Age, Information Has Become an Economic and Social Power”

Üsküdar University Head of Sociology Department Prof. Dr. Ebulfez Süleymanlı, in his speech titled 'Information Society and the Turkic World,' stated that developments in information and communication technologies have transformed information into an economic and social power in our age. Süleymanlı stated that the situation of the Turkic Republics, where a large part of the population consists of young people and which have a young workforce potential, is of particular importance; 'For the Central Asian Turkic Republics to benefit from the human capital potential they possess in their economic development, they must first protect and develop their current conditions. In this context, the Turkic Republics must identify their priorities in the process of transforming into an information society and define the steps to be taken,' he said.

At the conference, guest students were presented with the book 'Being a Conscious Young Person' by Üsküdar University Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan. The program concluded with a souvenir photo session.
