Üsküdar Üniversitesi, through its Science and Idea Festival, which supports high school students' scientific thinking, project development, and entrepreneurial skills, continues to bring young and creative minds to the world of science. The preliminary evaluation results for the 10th Science and Idea Festival have been announced. In the festival, where 534 projects competed, 256 projects passed the preliminary stage.
The preliminary evaluation results of Üsküdar Üniversitesi's "Science and Idea Festival," organized for the 10th time this year in cooperation with the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, have been announced. The event, which holds the distinction of being Turkey's first science and idea festival, started accepting projects from the provinces of Bursa, Kocaeli, and Yalova, in addition to Istanbul, this year.
The festival, first held in 2013 with the theme of "Artificial Intelligence," could not be organized for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the earthquakes on February 6, 2023.
The 10th Science and Idea Festival, which will be held at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Central Campus on May 23, 2025, continues to be an important platform that brings together young people's scientific productions with entertainment.
High Participation in Three Main Categories!
In the festival, projects are evaluated in three main categories: Science and Technology, Social Sciences, and Health Sciences. According to the preliminary evaluation results for the festival, which featured 534 projects:
• 129 projects in the Science and Technology category,
• 80 projects in the Social Sciences category,
• 47 projects in the Health Sciences category, with a total of 256 projects passing the preliminary stage.
This year, within the scope of the festival, the aim is for young people to develop creative solutions to problems encountered in social life and scientific questions in the fields of science and health.
Evaluation System and Awards
In the festival, the final evaluation scoring of projects is weighted as 60% for the final presentation and 40% for the preliminary evaluation. Projects are ranked from the highest score to the lowest.
Scholarship and Patenting Award
A total of 500,000 TL in awards will be distributed to the winning projects.
For students ranking in the top 3 in each category, the discount rate for those who list Üsküdar Üniversitesi's paid, 25%, and 50% discounted programs among their first five preferences and are placed in one of these preferences will be increased to 75%.
Sustainable Project Award
On the other hand, projects ranked between 11th and 20th across all categories will receive the “Good Idea, Original Method, Sustainable Project” award in the honorable mention category.
Participation Contribution Award
Additionally, the District Directorate of National Education that submits the most projects to the Science and Idea Festival will be presented with the "District Producing the Most Projects" plaque. All participating students will receive a Üsküdar Üniversitesi Library Card and a certificate of participation, and all participating schools will receive a plaque or a certificate of appreciation.
The Project Final Evaluation and Award Ceremony will also be held on May 23, 2025. Awards will be presented to the winners at the ceremony, which will take place at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Central Campus.
