Üsküdar Speech and Language Therapy Department participated in the 'European Speech and Language Therapy Day' Symposium

Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Speech and Language Therapy Department, under the leadership of Prof. Ahmet Konrot, participated in the “Speech Disorders Symposium” held at Anadolu University within the scope of ‘March 6 European Speech and Language Therapy Day’. In the program dedicated to Prof. Ahmet Konrot, one of the leading authorities in the field, Konrot drew attention to the development process and importance of the speech and language therapy field in Türkiye.

The event, held at Anadolu University Student Center with participants from various cities of Türkiye, was organized in dedication to Prof. Ahmet Konrot, Head of the Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Speech and Language Therapy Department. 

Prof. Ahmet Konrot, Head of Üsküdar University Speech and Language Therapy Department and Director of ÜSESKOM, who has garnered global recognition for his work in the field, met with speech and language therapists from many regions of Türkiye. 

In his speech, Konrot, addressing the development process of the speech and language therapy field in Türkiye, drew attention to the fact that March 6 is celebrated annually as European Speech and Language Therapy Day due to it being the founding anniversary of the European Speech and Language Therapists Association.  

Prof. Konrot also drew attention to the importance of the work of academicians who contribute to the development of this field in Türkiye.

In the “Motor Speech Disorders Panel” held within the scope of the symposium, Asst. Prof. Özlem Oğuz, a faculty member of Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Speech and Language Therapy Department, made important contributions regarding clinical decision-making processes for speech apraxia with her presentation titled “Clinical Decision-Making Process in Acquired Speech Apraxia: Goal, Plan, and Method”.

Üsküdar University Speech and Language Therapy Student Club also participated in the event with its board members. Students, who had the opportunity to follow current developments and practices in the field, also had the chance to meet with speech and language therapists from all over Türkiye. 
The symposium, where current studies in the field of speech disorders were discussed, created an important information-sharing environment for academicians and students.
