The 9th G20 - Neuroscience20 (BRAIN- SPINE- MENTAL- HEALTH) summit, organized by the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT), which includes distinguished scientists globally in the field of neuroscience, was held in Indonesia / Bali. At the Summit, where Üsküdar Üniversitesi was the only participant from Turkey, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan delivered the opening speech. Tarhan, who stated that being recognized by international researchers for their neurotechnology-focused work and being a reference point made them happy, was also presented with a "Bestseller" award for his books that entered the bestseller list in Indonesia.

The G20 Leaders' Summit, which brings together the leaders of the world's 20 leading economies and representatives of international organizations, is being held in Bali, hosted by Indonesia.

The 9th G20 - Neuroscience20 (BRAIN- SPINE- MENTAL- HEALTH) conference, organized by the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT), which was founded in 2013 and includes distinguished researchers in the field of neuroscience, particularly from the USA, was held in Bali this year.

Two Scientists from Turkey…

While Üsküdar Üniversitesi was the only university participating from Turkey in the conference, Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan and Associate Professor Türker Tekin Ergüzel, a faculty member of Üsküdar Üniversitesi and one of the accompanying researchers, gave presentations on their ongoing studies within the scope of the summit.

Cancer, Neurotechnology on the Agenda of Science Leaders…

Under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Dr. Babak Kateb on behalf of ME+ Brain Initiative, Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT), Sandip Chatterjee on behalf of India Brain Initiative, Dr. Asra Al Fauzi on behalf of Asia-Pacific, and Keerthy Sunder, President of Sunder Foundation, delivered opening speeches at N20 within the scope of the summit. The agenda for the scientists included: Cancer Treatment, Suicide Prevention, Neurotechnology, Addiction Prevention, and Wearable Technologies.

Studies Conducted in Turkey Drew Attention…

Within the scope of the summit, which also received extensive coverage in the world press, session chair Prof. Nevzat Tarhan with his presentation titled "Theta Burst and Neuromodulation Applications" and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel with his presentation "AI Based Neuroscience Applications and NP Model" shared their work.

While their neurotechnology-focused work attracted the interest of international researchers, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, in his presentation, highlighted neuromodulation techniques and how rTMS affects electrical activity. Tarhan discussed its use in the treatment of depression, OCD, and comorbid psychiatric disorders, as well as its side effects. He shared the NP Beyin Hastanesi's addiction, rTMS theta burst protocols, and neuronavigation-supported treatment applications with researchers from 9 different countries and simultaneously with viewers via the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT) YouTube channel.

AI-Powered Disease Classification Model…

On the other hand, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Türker Ergüzel presented the first version of the AI-powered disease classification model, "NP Model," designed for NP Beyin Hastanesi and for which Prof. Nevzat Tarhan filed a patent application. Specifically, the disease classification model, designed with LSTM and CNN architectures used instead of traditional classification algorithms that become insufficient with increasing data resolution and size, was simulated with external validation procedures for OCD - Healthy Control group and Bipolar - Healthy Control groups and shared with researchers.

Tarhan: "Being a Reference Point in Our Country with Our Work Makes Us Happy"

Tarhan, who stated that they were very happy that the neurotechnology-focused studies of Üsküdar Üniversitesi and NP Beyin Hastanesi received close attention from international researchers, and that they were proud to be a reference point for our country's work in these fields, was also presented with an award.

Author Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan Honored with Bestseller Award

Tarhan, whose books "Rumi Terapi" and "İnanç Psikolojisi" entered the "Bestseller" list in Indonesia, was presented with the "Bestseller" award. The award was given to Tarhan by Joni Wahyuhadi, president of the "Indonesian Neurosurgical Society," at the G20 / N20 summit.

Tarhan's books, described by his readers as "an impressive book on blending science and faith," were shared with N20 delegation members with Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan's signature.
