Üsküdar at the Food Chemistry Congress…

Üsküdar University Food Technology Program Head and SHMYO Deputy Director Assist. Prof. Dr. Salih Tuncay and Yunus Emre Toprak, a student of the SHMYO Laboratory Technology program, participated in the Food Chemistry Congress. The congress, held at Antalya Mirage Park Resort, was realized as an international scientific meeting with the participation of representatives from the sector, public institutions, and academia.

An International Meeting Was Held

The first Food Chemistry Congress this year saw the participation of officials and representatives from the Department of Animal Health, Food and Feed Research; Department of Food Establishments and Codex; Department of Plant and Plant Product Border Control; and Department of Risk Assessment, all affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, under the leadership of the Deputy General Director of Agricultural Research and Policies of the Presidency of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Head of the Food Control and Laboratories Department. A scientific meeting was held at the congress with presentations from sponsors from the sector and esteemed academics.

“Participation in scientific meetings is highly important”

Üsküdar University Food Technology Program Head and SHMYO Deputy Director Assist. Prof. Dr. Salih Tuncay gave an oral presentation at the congress titled “The Use and Importance of Oleuropein and Hydroxytyrosol Obtained from Olive Leaves in Foods.” Tuncay stated that participation at this level, together with SHMYO students in various fields, will increase; “The participation of SHMYO students in such scientific meetings is highly important. We are following the congress programs,” he said.

Tuncay, who is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Chemists Association, also served as the General Secretary of the Food Chemistry Congress. His student, Yunus Emre Toprak, contributed by taking part in the scientific coordination of the congress, providing technical support to ensure the smooth progress of presentations by invited speakers and oral presenters in the scientific session hall.
