Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication achieved another significant success, registering its academic quality. The Journalism Program received a 5-year accreditation for the second time from İLAD. Concurrently, the Advertising Program extended its 2-year accreditation, obtained in 2022, by an additional 3 years through an interim evaluation. The Faculty once again proved its success in education. The accreditation decisions were announced through official letters.
Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication Journalism Program renewed its accreditation granted by İLAD. The program was re-accredited for a second 5-year period.
Journalism Department accredited for another 5 years
The Journalism Program first applied in 2019 and, as a result of the evaluation carried out by the Communication Education Evaluation Accreditation Board (İLEDAK), qualified to receive a 2-year accreditation granted by the Communication Research Association (İLAD).
In the interim evaluation in 2021, the department was accredited for 3 years. The application made in 2024 concluded on March 14, 2025, and this time the department succeeded in obtaining a 5-year accreditation. İLAD Accreditation is granted for a maximum of 5 years to applicant programs.
Site visit conducted on December 2-4, 2024
The evaluation team commissioned by İLEDAK conducted a site visit on December 2-4, 2024, examining faculty premises, and meeting with students, faculty members, administrators of administrative units, and external stakeholders.
Prof. Dr. İncilay Cangöz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Küçük Durur served as Journalism Program evaluators on the İLEDAK team, chaired by Prof. Dr. Cem Sefa Sütcü and co-chaired by Prof. Dr. Müge Demir.
Accreditation decision announced via official letter
The accreditation decision for the Journalism Program was communicated to the Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication deanship with the signature of İLAD President Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz. The decision included the following statements:
“Upon your institution’s General Evaluation application for your 'Journalism' program in 2024, the program was evaluated by the İLEDAK Communication Education Evaluation Accreditation Board team. The Self-Evaluation Report and the Team Evaluation Report prepared as a result of examinations conducted during the visit were discussed at the İLEDAK meeting after the report of the İLEDAK Consistency Commission. The İLEDAK Communication Education Evaluation Accreditation Board decided to grant '5-year accreditation' to the Journalism program with code number İLAD GD 2024/150-001. İLEDAK’s accreditation decision was approved and endorsed by the İLAD Board of Directors' decision dated March 12, 2025, and numbered 2025/04. The Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication Journalism Undergraduate Program has been accredited for five (5) years, valid between February 20, 2025, and February 20, 2030, and has been granted the right to receive the İLAD Accreditation Certificate.”
Advertising Department also granted 3 more years of accreditation
Concurrently, the Advertising Department made its first application to İLAD for accreditation in 2022 and received a 2-year accreditation. In 2024, the department prepared its file again for an interim evaluation. As a result of the interim evaluation conducted by the Communication Education Evaluation Accreditation Board (İLEDAK) on behalf of the Communication Research Association (İLAD), the department was granted an additional 3 years of accreditation.

The accreditation decision for the Advertising Program was communicated to the Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication deanship with the signature of İLAD President Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz. The official letter included the following statements:
“The Interim Evaluation Report prepared by the İLEDAK Evaluation Team regarding the Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication Advertising Program with code number İLAD AD 2024/150-002 was reviewed by the İLEDAK Consistency Commission and discussed at the İLEDAK meeting. As a result of the evaluation made by the İLEDAK Communication Education Evaluation Accreditation Board, a decision of '3-year valid accreditation' was made to complete the previously granted 2-year accreditation for the Advertising program to 5 years. İLEDAK’s decision was approved and endorsed by the İLAD Board of Directors' decision dated March 12, 2025, and numbered 2025/04. The Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication Advertising Program has been granted the right to receive the İLAD Accreditation Certificate, valid from March 10, 2025, to March 10, 2028.”
