Üsküdar University took center stage in the scientific community at the 4th IVF and Infertility Association Congress with the MESSAGE Science Mission Project, which was carried out within the scope of Türkiye’s first manned space mission. The project, led by Dr. Cihan Taştan, General Director of Üsküdar University NPİCELLAB İTTÜ Biotechnology and Director of TRGENMER, sheds light on pioneering research in the fields of space biology and reproductive genetics.

At the congress held at Elexus Hotel in Cyprus, Dr. Cihan Taştan, General Director of NPİCELLAB İTTÜ Biotechnology and Director of TRGENMER, and Beyza Aydın, R&D Specialist at NPİCELLAB İTTÜ Biotechnology & TRGENMER, received great interest from participants with their presentations.

Innovative approaches shaping the future were discussed

In his speech titled “Rewriting the Future: A Breakthrough in Embryo Genetics,” Dr. Cihan Taştan evaluated the biotechnological challenges encountered in embryo genetics and the innovative approaches that will shape the future, based on the experimental data obtained within the framework of the MESSAGE Science Mission.

Taştan emphasized that these findings not only provide valuable insights into space biology but also open new research directions in the fields of human health, fertility, and genetic engineering.

The importance of multidisciplinary research was highlighted

In her presentation titled “Cosmic Codes: Germ Cells and Embryo Genetics in Space Missions,” Beyza Aydın discussed the genetic effects of space conditions such as microgravity and cosmic radiation on germ cells and embryonic development.
Aydın underlined that the multidisciplinary research conducted as part of the MESSAGE Science Mission provides critical data for understanding reproductive mechanisms and the preservation of genetic integrity in space.

Research contributes to Türkiye’s vision for scientific advancement

The studies led by Üsküdar University make a strong contribution to Türkiye’s vision of becoming a significant player in space biotechnology and genetic research on the international stage.

Under the leadership of Dr. Cihan Taştan, the MESSAGE Science Mission aims to develop innovative solutions across a broad scientific spectru from reproductive biology to genetic engineering in line with humanity’s goal of ensuring a sustainable presence in space.
