A 'CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) Awareness Training' was organized by ÜSMERA (Üsküdar University Health Services Vocational School Education, Practice and Research Center) operating within Üsküdar University Health Services Vocational School (SHMYO). Students gained practical knowledge on measures to be taken against potential CBRN threats and emergency management. In the training conducted in cooperation with AFAD, the importance of disaster preparedness and professional awareness was emphasized. The training provided significant benefits for students studying in the fields of radiation safety, medical imaging, radiotherapy, and occupational health and safety, also highlighting the critical role of interdisciplinary cooperation and disaster preparedness in healthcare services.

CBRN Awareness Training from AFAD for Üsküdar University Members

In the training given by AFAD CBRN Trainer Ahmet Alpaslan Duru in the Emir Nebi 1 hall of Çarşı Campus, it was aimed to raise awareness among students who will work in the health sector against potential CBRN incidents.

151 Students Attended the Training…
A total of 151 students from the Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety, Radiotherapy, Medical Imaging Techniques, and Occupational Health and Safety programs, which are part of the Health Services Vocational School, participated in the training.
Also attending the program were Instructor Dilek Aker, Head of the Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program; Instructor Elif Ebru Altunsoy Güçlü, Head of the Medical Imaging Techniques Program; Instructor Selen Ener Boran, faculty member of the Radiotherapy Program; and numerous other academics, who followed the training alongside the students.

Being Prepared for Disasters is a Professional Responsibility!
Assoc. Prof. Feride Kulalı Özdek, Deputy Director of SHMYO and Head of the Radiotherapy Program, who delivered the opening speech of the program, pointed out the great importance of being prepared for disasters and emergencies for healthcare professionals.
Özdek stated that having awareness of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear threats is an important part of the professional responsibilities of graduates, especially those who will work in radiation fields.

Comprehensive Training Against CBRN Threats
In the training provided by AFAD CBRN Trainer Ahmet Alpaslan Duru; the characteristics of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, protection methods to be applied in potential exposure situations, use of personal protective equipment, incident scene management, evacuation processes, and emergency response methods were discussed in detail.
Students participated interactively in the program throughout the training, where real case examples and field experiences were also shared.

An Important Awareness Initiative Contributing to Professional Development
The event, carried out with the support of ÜSMERA, made a significant contribution to increasing students' awareness of disaster and emergency preparedness, in addition to their professional knowledge and skills.
The training provided significant benefits for students studying in the fields of radiation safety, medical imaging, radiotherapy, and occupational health and safety, also highlighting the critical role of interdisciplinary cooperation and disaster preparedness in healthcare services.

Certificates of Participation Awarded
At the end of the program, participants completed their registration processes via the established QR code system and became entitled to receive certificates of participation.
At the end of the training, a certificate of appreciation was presented by Üsküdar University to AFAD CBRN Trainer Ahmet Alpaslan Duru for his contributions to raising students' awareness of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear threats.
The highly attended program concluded with a group commemorative photo session.
