While support from international universities for the joint 'Manifesto of Universal Human Values and Rights,' launched for signing by Üsküdar University and L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University of Kazakhstan, continues to grow, an endorsement also came from Dr. Ravi Chandra, a member of the American Psychiatric Association. Chandra, likening the manifesto to a shining precedent, stated: 'At a time when human values are corrupting, being erased, terribly losing their value, and disappearing, this is a shining precedent.'

Support for the 'Manifesto of Universal Human Values and Rights,' which has attracted global attention and has been signed since its publication, is growing every day.

Most recently, Dr. Ravi Chandra, a member of the American Psychiatric Association, described the manifesto in his message as 'a shining precedent in a time when values are lost.'

In his message to Üsküdar University Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Chandra used the following expressions:

“Dear Prof. Nevzat Tarhan,
Thank you for this tremendous manifesto and for sharing the wonderful news that 400,000 signatures have been collected.  At a time when human values are corrupting, being erased, terribly losing their value, and disappearing, this is a shining precedent.

I was 'joking' with a friend wearing a Kamala Harris t-shirt that read “Yes, She Can”.  I said, “‘Yes, She Did!’. She saved humanity but lost herself because of so-called humanity.”

Life is indeed a struggle, but also a source of joy because so many more share in this struggle.  Right now, I am thinking of everyone with individual and societal struggles that are not high on our priority list; I am thinking of many of our patients who silently endure oppressions in their own minds, families, and neighborhoods.  I’m not even talking about how these struggles are related to broader systems of exploitation, the predicament of humanity.  Perhaps we find solace in Thich Nhat Hanh’s words, ‘No mud, no lotus,’ and in the words of the Dalai Lama below.”

Chandra also shared an image. The image contains the following statements:

“Joyful Living Based on Non-Violence”

Generally, and in particular all sentient beings, the human inhabitants of this planet, are like members of one single human family. Our temporary and ultimate happiness depends on others’ happiness, and we are connected to each other by an intrinsic bond. As is clearly seen from experience and historical records, ill-will and conflicts lead to mutual destruction. My hope and prayer, therefore, is that we may always live a happy and joyful life, based on non-violence, truthfulness, equality, and a clear conscience.

H.H. XIV. Dalai Lama”
