What should university education be like?
Emphasizing that the primary goal of university education is to raise good individuals, Prof. Dr. Konuk stated, "Our aim is primarily to raise people who are beneficial to others. We must raise individuals who are connected to our values, our cultures, and the things that make us who we are. In this context, as Üsküdar University, we operate with this idea, striving for students to become good professionals while also becoming good individuals."
"Knowledge should be produced, applied, and then generate income"
Referring to the importance of R&D and projects in a good university education, Prof. Dr. Muhsin Konuk said, "Previously, universities were seen as places for producing knowledge and transferring it to others, but it has now been realized that this is no longer the sole function. It is important for a university to be productive and applicable. After applicable knowledge becomes applicable, it must also generate income, partly due to the influence of the capitalist system. Therefore, R&D and projects are indispensable for a university in this context. We must now be able to convert the knowledge we produce into applications, generate income from those applications, and patent them. Other countries should also pay when they use our knowledge. In this context, we see that new-generation universities are now planned in this way."
