Two Finalists from Üsküdar Communication at Altın Koza Film Festival Final…

The finalists of the 31st International Adana Altın Koza Film Festival, held this year, have been announced. Among the five short films that made it to the final in the National Student Short Film Competition - Short Experimental Film category were the short films by İbrahim Karahasan, a senior student from Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication, Radio, Television and Cinema Department, and Ayşenur Ateş, a 2nd-year student. The winner will be determined after the final evaluation by the Selection Committee, which will take place in Adana between September 23-29, 2024. 

Students from Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication added another achievement to their successes.

Communicators from Üsküdar made it to the Altın Koza Film Festival final. 

The films selected from 201 applications were determined as finalists after evaluation by the preliminary jury consisting of Arzu Görgülü, Özgür İpek, and Seher Şeylan. 

This year, among the finalists of the National Student Short Film Competition - Short Experimental Film category films that will appear before the jury at the festival and bring the excitement of Altın Koza to cinema lovers, are Ayşenur Ateş with “Taş” and İbrahim Karahasan with “Meçhul” from Üsküdar Communication.

İbrahim Karahasan’s film “Meçhul,” a senior student from Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication, Radio, Television and Cinema, became one of the five short films to reach the final. The filming of "Meçhul," an experimental short film, took place in Uludağ on January 14-15, 2024. This short film, which is İbrahim Karahasan's graduation project, is also Karahasan's first short film as a writer and director.

Before Altın Koza, "Meçhul" had also received the Best International Short Film Jury Special Award, the Best Experimental Short Film Jury Special Award, and the Best Silent Short Film Award at the Golden Lion International Film Festival held in India.

Ayşenur Ateş’s film “Taş,” a 2nd-year student of Radio, Television and Cinema, also became one of the five short films to reach the final. The experimental short film “Taş” was also Ayşenur Ateş’s first short film as a writer and director.

The short film, shot in Istanbul, tells the story of Ahmet, who constantly dreams of crying while looking at a stone, and whose life between work and home is dictated by electronic devices. The film then deals with Ahmet encountering the meaning of the stone in his dream after getting lost in a neighborhood while navigating.
