Üsküdar University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel was deemed worthy of the “2025 Golden Axon Leadership” award given by the Brain Mapping Society.
Prof. Dr. Ergüzel became the second scientist from Turkey to receive this award.

This year's meeting of the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT), which Üsküdar University and NPİSTANBUL Hospital have partnered with in the global Neuro-Technology Consortium in psychiatry and have participated in for over 10 years, was held in Los Angeles between February 27 and March 2, 2025.
During the 3-day “22nd Neuro-Technology Congress”, Prof. Dr. Türker Ergüzel from Üsküdar University, due to his innovative work in the field of neuroscience, was deemed worthy of the "Golden Axon Leadership" award given by the US-based Brain Mapping Society (World Brain Mapping Foundation WBMF).
Prof. Dr. Ergüzel, one of the researchers inspired by and contributed to the development by Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector and Chairman of the Board of Üsküdar University and a psychiatrist, in the fields of preliminary diagnosis with artificial intelligence in psychiatric diseases, neurotechnology applications, big data analysis, computational neuroscience, and digital therapeutics (DTx), became the second scientist from Turkey to receive this award after Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan.

SBMT meetings make significant contributions to scientific development
In his speech at the award ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ergüzel stated that the SBMT meetings he has attended for 10 years have made significant contributions to research and scientific development aimed at increasing societal welfare and improving patient care by transforming new technologies into life-saving diagnostic and treatment methods.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ergüzel stated that rather than being worthy of the award itself, he believes this achievement is a step that contributes to the inspiring productivity of Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, who has put great effort into his development, to his support for researchers, and to his passion for sustaining a scientific research culture in our country by utilizing international references.
