Within the scope of World Space Week, awareness events were simultaneously organized in TÜBİTAK-affiliated science centers across Turkey under the coordination of TÜBİTAK. In this context, Üsküdar Üniversitesi Translational Genomics and Regenerative Medicine Research Center (TRGENMER) brought students together with current research in space studies through the “Space and Space Medicine Meeting” held at Üsküdar Science Center.
Met with students at Üsküdar Science Center
Within the framework of events organized after the International Astronautical Congress IAC 2025, Dr. Cihan Taştan, Director of Üsküdar Üniversitesi TRGENMER, and Beyza Aydın, R&D Specialist at Üsküdar Üniversitesi TRGENMER, met with students at Üsküdar Science Center and conducted a comprehensive interview about scientific studies in space research and space medicine carried out in Turkey.
During the event, the biological and medical dimensions of manned space missions, the effects of microgravity on the human body, and why health research in the space environment is of critical importance were discussed.

Space studies are not limited to engineering and technology alone
During the presentations and interactive discussions, it was emphasized that space studies are not limited to engineering and technology alone; when considered together with disciplines such as biology, medicine, and genetics, they hold strategic importance for humanity's future in space.
At the event, which garnered significant interest from students, attention was drawn to the importance of supporting curiosity in space sciences at an early age for the development of qualified human resources.
The meeting organized within the scope of World Space Week strengthened the bridge between science centers and society, while providing an inspiring environment for young people to pursue space and science-based careers.
