Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özge Uğurlu: “We are all on a stage in daily life”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özge Uğurlu, Head of the Public Relations and Publicity Department at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Communication, delivered her presentation titled ‘Effective Speaking and Presentation Techniques’ to the Azerbaijani delegation. Uğurlu drew attention to the main elements important in effective speaking and spoke about the importance of body language. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özge Uğurlu said; “We all communicate. While communicating, we often overlook an important point for us. ‘Can we communicate effectively?’ What we mean by effective communication is having a speech, a text, that we believe is present in every effective communication. By text, we don’t mean taking a paper and reading it. We are talking about explaining something to others. When communicating with people, the style of communication is extremely important. In fact, how we say something can become much more important than what we say. We are all on a stage in daily life. On this stage, when creating, explaining ourselves, expressing, speaking, communicating verbally or non-verbally, we don't necessarily have to speak. When communicating, we are not just sharing our thoughts. At the same time, we are in a mental communication with the people we are facing, and this communication must be reinforced with body language, eye contact, the words we use, our emphasis, our voice, and our gestures and facial expressions.”
Traditional gifts presented
At the end of the training, participants were awarded their certificates. Subsequently, the Azerbaijani delegation presented their traditional gifts to Üsküdar Üniversitesi Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör. The event concluded after a group photo session.
