Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) organized the “Where are the old Ramadans” event within the scope of the Week of Respect for the Elderly. A talk was held with the participation of residents from Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Kerim and Nilüfer Gökay Nursing Home. This was followed by a music recital and an iftar dinner. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka: “The most productive years are the sixties…”
Rector's Advisor Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka underlined that a country's greatest wealth can be expressed by its qualified human resources; “My field of economics is economics. I know and state this: 'The greatest wealth a country can possess can be expressed by its qualified human resources. In an economy without human resources, no matter how rich a state's resources are, those resources cannot be utilized, and its development cannot be ensured. In scientific research conducted within these human resources, the most productive years are the sixties. This is the result of a scientific study.” he said.

Prof. Dr. İsmail Barış: “We don’t have elderly; we have senior citizens”
Rector's Advisor Prof. Dr. İsmail Barış, drawing attention to the fact that senior citizens have passed on the trust they received to current generations, said: “I don't call you elderly; I call you senior citizens. Whenever I see a road or a bridge, whenever I see a Mihrimah Sultan, I always think of people with white hair and slumped shoulders because they built them, and we live. The white-haired ones lived. They nurtured our roads, our greenery, and our seas through difficulties. They passed on the trust they received to us. That's why we don't have elderly; we have senior citizens from whom we draw inspiration.”

Dr. Lecturer Melek Çaylak: “Today is a very meaningful day…”
Head of Social Services Program Dr. Lecturer Melek Çaylak, drawing attention to the meaning and importance of the day; “First of all, I would like to thank our beloved elders who are our guests today from Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Kerim Gökay nursing home for coming. Today is a very meaningful day. I find it very meaningful. I also thank the Üsküdar Üniversitesi administration for supporting the organization of today's event.” she stated.

Sevgi Kurt: “Our youth's sensitivity is very important to us”
Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Kerim and Gökay Nursing Home Director Sevgi Kurt, emphasizing the importance of youth's sensitivity and sense of belonging; “My esteemed elders, professors, fellow students, and staff members, we are very happy to be here today. The respect for the elderly program today also coincided with the Week of the Elderly. Thank you for everything. And the sensitivity of our youth, their sense of belonging, is very important to us.” she said.
