They learned life-saving interventions in the university laboratory

Within the scope of the 'Education Cooperation Protocol' signed between Üsküdar University, Ümraniye District Governorship, and Ümraniye District Directorate of National Education, students from Ümraniye 75th Year Republic Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School visited Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) First and Emergency Aid Program. Students gained both vocational knowledge and awareness in the field of health by experiencing basic health skills such as the Heimlich maneuver and blood pressure measurement in a laboratory setting.  

The training program held at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus attracted great interest. 

Heimlich maneuver explained with practical demonstration

Within the scope of the program, Instructor Ayşe Bağlı, Head of First and Emergency Aid Program, practically demonstrated the Heimlich maneuver to the students. It was emphasized that this method, used in the danger of choking caused by a foreign body entering the airway, is among the life-saving first aid techniques.

In the training held at the First and Emergency Aid Laboratory, the importance of the correct and timely application of the Heimlich maneuver was emphasized, and it was stated that not only adults but also young individuals should possess basic first aid knowledge. Drawing attention to the fact that in emergency situations encountered at school, home, and in social life, the first intervention is often carried out by people at the scene, it was stated that the widespread dissemination of first aid knowledge is of vital importance.

Students experienced basic health skills

Within the scope of the program, students learned the Heimlich maneuver practically and grasped the importance of acting consciously instead of panicking in a possible choking incident. It was stated that this acquired knowledge offers significant contributions not only to individual awareness but also to public health.

Blood pressure measurement application was performed

Furthermore, within the framework of the workshop, a blood pressure measurement application was performed by Instructor Keziban Turan. Thanks to this application, students had the opportunity to both develop their technical skills and get acquainted with the university laboratory environment.
