“Be a volunteer, do it from the heart” was the motto for students from Üsküdar, who declared a volunteer mobilization with the support of the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and Karatay Municipality. Within the scope of the project, which aims to teach the culture of volunteering, increase feelings of ownership, and transfer national and spiritual values to future generations through acts of kindness, students met with students from İsmil Cumhuriyet Middle School in Konya. They implemented the project “Bridge of Values for a Sustainable Future with Volunteer Youth in the Digital Age.”

They Acted with the Motto “Be a Volunteer, Do it from the Heart”

The project “Bridge of Values for a Sustainable Future with Volunteer Youth in the Digital Age” was carried out at İsmil Cumhuriyet Middle School with “Volunteer Youth Leaders” in cooperation with Üsküdar Üniversitesi Health, Culture and Sports Directorate, Young Brains Academy, Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, and Karatay Municipality.
Applications Made on 4 Main Themes
With the support of student clubs named Sustainable Development Club, Nature Sports Club, Young Red Crescent Club, Social Aid and Solidarity Club, and New Generation Culture Platform, applications were made with volunteer youth on 4 main themes. In the implemented applications, studies were carried out on volunteering, participatory youth, the kindness movement, and the transfer of cultural, national, and spiritual values to future generations with volunteer youth.
Awareness and Sensitization Workshops for Children Were Held
Within the scope of the project, workshops on various topics were held for children. To raise awareness and inform children, the exterior of İsmil Village Middle School was painted, the toilets used by children were revised to be hygienic, awareness on cleanliness was provided, first aid training was given, and awareness workshops for the climate crisis were held in the school garden. Furthermore, for art and science, workshops were held to develop children's imagination with volunteer youth under the coordination of Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Nebiye Yaşar, Director of Young Brains Academy.
At the end of the workshops, the Konya Karatay İsmil Children's Festival was held.
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan Corner Created in the Library
Throughout the process, a cultural and art trip was made with volunteer youth, and a “Sürdür Children’s Library” and “Sürdür Children’s Kindergarten” were established within the project. All of Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan's books were made available to readers in a dedicated corner created for him in the library. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan's saying “Have a passionate life purpose” was also included in the library.
