Experts state that high school and university students are actively using artificial intelligence not just for entertainment, but also for learning, creating, and achieving academic success. They add that AI systems, used for basic needs like preparing assignments, creating presentations, and accessing information, are now directly integrated into exam preparation processes.
Education Specialist Psychologist Hatice Ada emphasized the importance of AI's advantages over traditional resources, such as 24/7 access, personalized content, patient repetitions, and real-time analysis. She said, “However, despite all these, it does not seem possible for AI to completely replace human relationships and teacher guidance. The most efficient way to use it is to view artificial intelligence as a complementary tool.”

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Education Institutions and Guidance Services education specialist Psychologist Hatice Ada evaluated students' increasing use of artificial intelligence.
It's not about working hard, but working smartly, that makes a difference…
Specialist Psychologist Hatice Ada stated that today, artificial intelligence has become a reality not only on the agenda of technology enthusiasts but also in the daily lives of people of all ages. She said, “It increases our speed of accessing information, supports productivity, and simplifies our routine tasks. These systems, once seen as an option, are now directly integrated into life. It's no longer enough just to know about artificial intelligence; one needs to be able to work with it, to integrate it smartly into daily life. In this new order, it is not just those who work hard, but those who work smartly, who make a difference.”
Artificial intelligence systems are also directly integrated into exam preparation processes…
Noting that especially the younger generations are at the forefront of this transformation, Hatice Ada said, “High school and university students are actively using artificial intelligence not only for entertainment but also for learning, creating, and achieving academic success. AI systems, used for basic needs such as preparing assignments, creating presentations, and accessing information, are now directly integrated into exam preparation processes. But can one really prepare for exams with artificial intelligence? While the answer to this question varies depending on the usage, many students, teachers, and counselors have already started evaluating these systems as effective and efficient tools in the exam process.”
Artificial intelligence has transformed into an assistant that also serves strategy
Hatice Ada noted that AI-based applications can analyze subjects where a student is weak, explain the reasons for incorrect solutions, and reinforce learning with similar examples. She added, “Furthermore, they contribute to process management by offering break suggestions tailored to the student’s attention span. In this way, AI transforms into an assistant that serves not only knowledge but also strategy. Especially the possibility of individualized feedback makes it easier for students to chart a roadmap for their own development. Unlike classical systems that approach every student in the same way, offering a personalized experience provides a significant advantage.”
Artificial intelligence takes on the role of a 'non-judgmental teacher'
Psychologist Hatice Ada also stated that some platforms can create instant progress graphs by analyzing students' exam histories. She said, “These graphs nourish not only academic success but also motivation. Furthermore, AI's ability to fulfill characteristics that are limited in human relationships, such as 'asking the same question repeatedly' or 'patiently listening,' makes it attractive to young people. Especially for students who are hesitant to make mistakes or anxious about being judged by their teachers, artificial intelligence takes on the role of a 'non-judgmental teacher.' Students can ask unlimited questions, repeat as many times as necessary, and progress through the entire process at their own pace.”
It functions almost like a psychological support unit
Ada also noted that artificial intelligence can function almost like a psychological support unit on some platforms. She stated, “With its abilities such as providing break reminders based on anxiety levels, structuring study blocks, and offering focus and time management techniques, it can touch not only the student's knowledge level but also their emotional processes. Although it cannot focus on the uniqueness of a human being like a therapist or a guidance counselor, it can be considered a functional first step in coping with exam anxiety.”
Artificial intelligence can also generate content unrelated to reality
Ada pointed out that despite all these advantages, it should not be forgotten that artificial intelligence also has its limitations. She said, “Recent prolonged outages on platforms like ChatGPT or some examples of misinformation necessitate that users critically evaluate these systems. Artificial intelligence can sometimes generate content unrelated to reality, known as ‘hallucination.’ This means that the information provided by the system must always be verified with other sources.”
They provide personalized support to students
Ada stated that the use of artificial intelligence in education is becoming more widespread globally every day, and continued:
“In South Korea, digital textbooks are integrated with artificial intelligence through state-supported projects, and students' development is monitored instantly. In the USA, systems offering micro-lessons tailored to students' learning styles are attracting attention. Platforms like Riiid reach millions of students with personal test systems for exam preparation.
Although artificial intelligence applications in education are new in Turkey, they are developing rapidly. The Ministry of National Education determined its roadmap with the ‘Artificial Intelligence Applications in Education Strategy Document’ and established the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Applications within YEĞİTEK. AI-supported assessment and evaluation systems are being tested in pilot schools in Istanbul and Ankara. Additionally, MEB's AI-supported individual learning platform MEBİ and its virtual assistant KANKA provide 24/7 personalized support to students, especially for YKS preparation.”
Exam systems will also adapt to the transformation in the future
Psychologist Hatice Ada explained that the advantages of artificial intelligence, such as 24/7 access, personalized content, patient repetitions, and real-time analysis, are undeniable compared to traditional resources. She stated, “However, despite all these, it does not seem possible for it to completely replace human relationships and teacher guidance. The most efficient way to use it is to view artificial intelligence as a complementary tool. Being able to bring human intelligence and emotion alongside technology is becoming the most important skill of this new era. It also seems inevitable that exam systems will adapt to this transformation in the future. Moving away from rote-based structures, assessment systems focused on analysis, interpretation, and skills are expected to come to the forefront. Globally, organizations like IBM and Pearson are making significant investments in this direction. In Turkey, too, we are entering a period where we will more frequently encounter pilot implementations of similar assessment and evaluation systems.”
Artificial intelligence is the reality of the present…
Education Specialist Psychologist Hatice Ada pointed out that artificial intelligence can provide strong support in exam preparation, stating, “However, what truly makes a difference is the ability to intelligently blend this technology with strategic thinking, planning skills, and human support. Artificial intelligence is now fully the reality of the present. Those who grasp this reality and can collaborate with it not only reinforce their individual successes but also become actors shaping the future.” She concluded her words.
