The second “Study Tour” event was organized in collaboration between Üsküdar University and Hong Kong Chu Hai College. The first edition of this international academic gathering was held in 2024, and this year it continued with strong participation and rich content. Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör and faculty members attended the event. Presentations were delivered, and strategies on structuring global collaborations were discussed.


The event took place at the Main Campus Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall with the participation of Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations (English) Prof. Havva Kök Arslan, Deputy Director of the Strategic Research Application and Research Center (ÜSSAM) Assoc. Prof. İbrahim Arslan, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (Turkish) Asst. Prof. Cihan Taştan, Director of the International Relations Office Assoc. Prof. Haşmet Gökırmak, and Dr. Murat Sevencan.
From Hong Kong Chu Hai College, two professors, two researchers, and 25 students attended the event.
Prof. Güngör highlighted the importance of strong academic cooperation
In her speech, Prof. Nazife Güngör emphasized the university’s vision for internationalization and underlined the importance of strong academic cooperation between the two institutions.
Later, Dr. Oleksandr Pidchosa and Dr. Justina Yung from Hong Kong Chu Hai College gave speeches.
Joining the event via Zoom, Prof. Thomas M.H. Chan also made significant contributions on topics related to academic vision and collaboration.
Presentations were delivered
As part of the event, several presentations were made: Dr. Murat Sevencan: “Turkish Foreign Policy in a Multipolar World Order,” Assoc. Prof. İbrahim Arslan: “The U.S. Indo-Pacific Strategy,” Asst. Prof. Cihan Taştan: “R&D Studies at Üsküdar University.”
Following these presentations, an interactive Q&A session was held, providing participants the opportunity to engage directly with the academics.


Strategies on structuring global collaborations were discussed
A research session was later held with the participation of Prof. Havva Kök Arslan, Dr. Murat Sevencan, Assoc. Prof. Haşmet Gökırmak, Dr. Oleksandr Pidchosa, and Dr. Justina Yung.
Within the framework of the joint project between the Ng Teng Fong Sino Group Belt and Road Research Institute, Hong Kong Chu Hai College, and Üsküdar University Strategic Studies Research and Application Center, a session titled “Mapping Stakeholder Perceptions of the BRI: The Case of Türkiye” was organized.
During this session, strategies regarding the structuring of global collaborations were thoroughly discussed.
