Üsküdar University Solution-Oriented Women's Issues Application and Research Center (ÜSÇÖZÜM) participated in the Istanbul Provincial Action Plan for Combating Violence Against Women (2026–2030) Introductory Meeting and Provincial Coordination Board Meeting. At the meeting, efforts to prevent violence against women, inter-institutional cooperation, and the contribution of academic studies to policy processes were discussed. 

The Istanbul Provincial Action Plan for Combating Violence Against Women (2026–2030) Introductory Meeting and Provincial Coordination Board Meeting was held at Platform Zeytinburnu. 

At the meeting, the studies planned to be carried out during the 2026–2030 period for the prevention of violence against women and the roadmap for the implementation process were evaluated. Efforts to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation and coordination were also on the agenda of the meeting.

The role of academia in combating violence was discussed

Asst. Prof. Melda Enginsu participated in the meeting on behalf of Üsküdar University Solution-Oriented Women's Issues Application and Research Center. Enginsu stated that the meeting was important in terms of the role of academia in combating violence against women, inter-institutional cooperation, and the contribution of academic research on women's studies to policy processes.

Enginsu, who exchanged views with academicians from different universities within the scope of the meeting, shared information about academic studies conducted in the field of women's studies and combating violence against women.

The contribution of academic knowledge and expertise to the process was emphasized

The Istanbul Provincial Action Plan aims to create a roadmap for the studies to be carried out during the 2026–2030 period based on inter-institutional cooperation and coordination. At the meeting, the importance of universities and women's research centers contributing to this process with their academic knowledge and expertise was also discussed.
