Prof. Dr. Niyazi Beki from Üsküdar Üniversitesi Institute of Sufi Studies, emphasizing that the Night of Power is not just a time for worship, said, “Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, has established very profitable trade centers to help His servants. One of these is the ‘Night of Power.’”
Prof. Dr. Niyazi Beki: “On the Night of Power, it is very important to primarily recite the Quran, to remember Allah with His various names and attributes, to sincerely contemplate and show respect for this mercy of Allah that makes that night better than a thousand months, and to repent and seek forgiveness.”

Prof. Dr. Niyazi Beki from Üsküdar Üniversitesi Institute of Sufi Studies made important assessments regarding the Night of Power.
All beings were created to demonstrate Allah's infinite knowledge, wisdom, power, and mercy
Noting that all beings were created to demonstrate Allah's infinite knowledge, wisdom, power, and mercy, Prof. Dr. Niyazi Beki said, “To understand this, the states of these beings in their various aspects have been articulated throughout the Quran. Among creatures, the most honorable being is humankind, which is living, conscious, and possesses a mechanism for contemplation. And with these distinguished qualities, humanity has been subjected to a test. In the test presented for humanity in the Holy Quran, the straight path that will lead to happiness in this world and the hereafter has been shown.”
An ayah revealing that ‘the Night of Power is better and more rewarding than a thousand months’ has been revealed
Prof. Dr. Niyazi Beki stated that according to tradition, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “The world is the farm of the hereafter,” and continued:
“The good seeds and produce sown in this farm will yield the fruits of paradise in the afterlife. Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, has established very profitable trade centers to help His servants. One of these is the ‘Night of Power.’ According to tradition, when the Children of Israel heard about some individuals who spent a thousand months in the way of Allah, they, as a short-lived nation, envied them and wondered how they could achieve such reward. Thereupon, an ayah was revealed in Surah Al-Qadr, stating that ‘the Night of Power is better and more rewarding than a thousand months/approximately 83 years.’”
The revelation of the Quran began in the month of Ramadan
Prof. Dr. Niyazi Beki stated that the Night of Power gained its value due to the beginning of the Quran's revelation in the month of Ramadan, saying, “What is important is to make every night and every day a field for deeds that will earn Allah's pleasure. Indeed, an important wisdom behind keeping the Night of Power hidden is to encourage the revival of other nights of Ramadan and to guide to this path.
Reciting the Quran is of utmost importance on the Night of Power!
Prof. Dr. Niyazi Beki explained that the words expressed by Hafiz Shirazi, an important Sufi master, in a Persian couplet, “My esteemed teacher! Why do you incessantly enumerate the signs/characteristics-attributes of the Night of Power from the pulpit these days / Whereas if you know its value, every night is the Night of Power,” also aim to declare this truth. He added, “On the Night of Power, it is very important to primarily recite the Quran, to remember Allah with His various names and attributes, to sincerely contemplate and show respect for this mercy of Allah that makes that night better than a thousand months, and to repent and seek forgiveness. Our great Sufi masters who prioritized the hereafter have acted in this manner since ancient times. With exceptions, people do not undergo spiritual change in just one night. For this reason, we should make the Night of Power an occasion to live future nights better. This is possible by changing the old bad path to a new good path. Accordingly, the Night of Power should be seen as a fertile ground preparing for beautiful days to come. As the late Mehmet Akif beautifully said, ‘Rely on Allah, embrace effort, surrender to wisdom / If there is a way, this is it; I know no other way out.’” He concluded his words.
