An event titled 'Competencies of Emergency Teams in Schools' was held by Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) as part of the University Culture course. Lecturer Esad Sadık Demirtaş from SHMYO Occupational Health and Safety attended the event as a guest speaker.

“People to be assigned must be determined in advance”
Emphasizing the importance of emergency planning in schools, Lecturer Esad Sadık Demirtaş from SHMYO Occupational Health and Safety stated; “Individuals to be assigned in emergencies must be determined in advance. In addition, preventive measures should be taken, and intervention and evacuation methods should be established through drills.”
“Emergency teams need to be formed”
Demirtaş, providing information about the competencies of emergency teams in schools, said; “Emergency teams need to be formed in residential buildings with a structural height exceeding 30-50 meters, and in all types of non-residential structures, buildings, facilities, businesses, and sites containing more than 50 people. These teams are as follows: firefighting team, rescue team, protection team, and first aid team. It is crucial for these teams to have received emergency training and to be able to act without panic during an incident,” he stated.
The event concluded after answering questions from the participating students.
