Making the opening speech of the program, Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) Disabled Care and Rehabilitation Program Instructor Gönül Kil Tetik said that "The Week of Persons with Disabilities offers an important opportunity to understand the place of people with disabilities in society, to draw attention to the difficulties they face and to find solutions to these challenges. The main goal is to defend their rights and ensure that steps are taken to make their lives easier. We should not forget that we are all candidates for disability."

Merve Kırçıl: "We need to educate the family first"

Special Education Teacher Merve Kırçıl emphasized that it is of great importance for the family to be conscious in the special education process. Stating that the family should be a part of education, Kırçıl said that "I think everyone's approach to special education may be different, but the most important point is to educate the family first. Because I can only do a 40-minute session with the child. It's almost like a demo version. However, considering that the child spends the other 23 hours a day with his family, if the family does not continue this process, everything I do is wasted. In the next session, I have to go back to the beginning. In family education, there are first stages of 'denial' and 'mourning'. The family needs to complete these stages and apply to me by saying, 'What can I do?' Therefore, in order for the process to proceed in a healthy way, we must first raise awareness of the family."

The event ended with a group photo shoot after the presentation of a certificate of appreciation.
