The 'Digital Health Technologies and Artificial Intelligence' event was organized by the Medical Technoscience Club and the Scientific Research Community Club, under the leadership of the Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports Department. The event discussed digital applications in healthcare and the impact of artificial intelligence in these applications.

Prof. Dr. Melih Bulut, a Pediatric Surgery Specialist and a graduate of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, attended the event held at Üsküdar University NP Health Campus' Galenos Hall as a guest. Bulut shared his experiences with future physicians.

Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, Dean of Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine, also attended the event.

Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur: 'This is an immutable law of nature, just like the law of gravity'

Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, who delivered a speech at the event, said: 'If you become doctors who appreciate valuable professors like Melih Hoca, the younger generations after you will also appreciate you. The more you value your elders, the more the youth will value you when you grow up. This is an immutable law of nature, just like the law of gravity. I appreciate your understanding and congratulate you.'

Attention Drawn to Potential Solutions in Digital Health...

Prof. Dr. Melih Bulut delivered his presentation titled 'Innovation in Health'. Emphasizing the importance of innovation and digitalization in healthcare, Bulut addressed inefficiencies and challenges faced in health systems. Bulut stated: 'Approximately 20 percent of healthcare systems involve waste. A hospital and physician-centric service approach hinders a holistic approach to health. This situation leads to healthcare services being expensive, delayed, and prone to medical errors. For example, in cases of herniated disc, 10 percent of patients can be harmed during the treatment process. Furthermore, even among healthcare professionals, issues regarding hand hygiene can arise, which can lead to an increase in hospital-acquired infections.'

Highlighting potential solutions in digital health, Bulut emphasized that the budget allocated to healthcare is continuously increasing and data-driven medicine is gaining prominence. He also offered important advice to future healthcare professionals, drawing from his own experiences.

Bulut also pointed out that patients have expectations such as protection, foresight, personalized medicine, participation, and uninterrupted service.

Prof. Dr. Melih Bulut: 'Artificial intelligence can also bring ethical issues'

In his presentation, Bulut elaborately explained the role, literacy, ethics, and relationship of artificial intelligence with surgery in the field of health; he stated: 'Although artificial intelligence has great potential in healthcare, it can also bring ethical issues. Misuse of artificial intelligence can lead to problems such as discrimination and bias. Therefore, AI developers and users need to be conscious and use the technology correctly and ethically. Including AI education in the curriculum and raising awareness among healthcare professionals on this topic is important.'
The organized program continued with a Q&A session.

At the end of the program, Prof. Dr. Melih Bulut signed his work titled 'The Art of Speaking at Scientific and Medical Meetings' and gave it away as a raffle prize.
