“The Target Friendship” project, implemented by Üsküdar University International Student Relations office, continues its work in this field. Üsküdar University, which has organized many events to facilitate the adaptation of international students and help them feel good, brings students together with the principle of ‘Target friendship, lifelong friendship’. The sincere statements of Othman Naciri, a 2nd-year Software Engineering student, at an event, highlight the success of these efforts.
Üsküdar University adds a new dimension to its efforts every day to ensure that international students do not feel like strangers in our country, to facilitate their easy adaptation to the country, school, and city, and to achieve cultural harmony easily.
The ISSTeam International Student Support Team, established by Üsküdar University's International Student Relations office, never leaves students alone.
With the organized events, students do not feel alone.
Indeed, the statements of Othman Naciri, a 2nd-year student of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, who spoke at an event, reveal this reality.
In his heartfelt speech, Naciri included the following remarks:
“I want to share with you some of the problems I experienced in Turkey…
Because I didn't know Turkish, I even had some problems with my roommates, mostly due to the language barrier.
Being an international student here in Turkey is not easy; you have to deal with documents, official paperwork, and understand the system.
Adapting to the culture is also not easy. You need to get your equivalency certificate, student card, and even your Istanbul card. While doing and experiencing these, I felt alone. This was very difficult for me at the beginning.
Before I knew there was someone to support me, I had to figure everything out on my own. Fortunately, the International Student Support Team, known as ISSTeam, stepped in. With the Target Friendship Program, there are people to help you, international students, adapt more easily to our university and support you. ISSTeam offers various activities and services, such as entertainment club events and even fully supportive guidance for any problems you might encounter. Our goal is to find a solution and provide you with a good student social life.”
Dr. Gülcan Ayral, Manager of Üsküdar University International Student Relations, states that the target friendship project promises happiness for students, and walking together makes this process more meaningful and easier.
